I'll Be Back!

Hey everyone! I apologize that I have been missing for the last several weeks. I have been just a bit ill with all day sickness so haven't felt much like doing ANYTHING other than lie around a whole lot.

Also, last week my trusty digital camera bit the dust. :( A new camera isn't in the budget right now, so I might have to make due with pictures off of the I-phone once I start feeling my git up and go again. This blog is all about making due, and that's exactly what I'm planning on.

Stick with me, I will be back after this

gets a little better.  I'm hoping 2 to 3 weeks will do the trick!  How's that for optimism?

I Might Steal It!

I've been feeling a bit under the weather this last week and I apologize for the decreased posts and projects.

I thought I'd share one that I did back at Christmas time.

Believe it or not, this is a jewelry hanger I made for my sister-in-law last Christmas.

She generously took a picture for me so I could share it with everyone.  The ribbons aren't glued down so you can hang earrings from them and of course the different knobs on the bottom are perfect for necklaces.  I think you could even hang all those cute little hair accessories for little girls off of this thing.

She still hasn't hung it up and started using it so I might just have to make the trip north and steal it back! :)

And once again, no sewing was involved with this project.  Just some stitch witchery and hot glue, of course!

I found the frame at Tai Pan.  (An awesome store here in Utah!)

A Day at the Zoo

We decided about a week ago that we needed to escape get out of our little town and visit the big city.  We really needed a fun family outing.  The zoo was what we chose to do because

1.  It's cheap
2.  We don't live close to it, so the kids still think it's a cool treat.

We decided to torture my brother and his family by staying with them.  Haha!  They always SAY that they enjoy our visits but I know how chaotic it is to have 5 extra people staying in your home.  They're really good sports though.

Here you can see a bit of arguing going on because there doesn't seem to be enough room on the rhinoceros statue...DARN IT!

My nephew is hilarious and for some reason figured the gorilla statue would like a good smooch.  He's gonna have a way with the ladies someday?! :)

All four actually looking at the camera at the same time and no one is screaming or crying.

Max taking a stroll past the tigers.

He also enjoyed his snacks while someone else did all the work pushing him.  That's my boy...so smart!

Finally, Tommy and my nephew caught a peacock preening.

I think everyone had a good time and the trip gave us the little break we needed.
That concludes our little tour of the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City, UT.

It's About Time

Signs of Spring are peeking out ev.er.y.where!

Finally, things are starting to take off here in my neck of the woods.
Take a look at some of the pretty that's happening in my very own yard.
I mentioned earlier that I planted a few bulbs last fall that I got from Walmart half off.

I was a little worried about the quality I would get with such cheap bulbs, but I worry no more!

Daffodils, I have daffodils!  Squeeee!
(My version of an excited squeel...you get the idea I'm sure.)

I planted several bulbs on my ugly, steep back hill which I won't show you a full picture of.  Let's just say it is a garden that is very natural, if you can count sage brush and wild grass as a garden.  At least now it has some color!

Look at the grape hyacinth coming along so beautifully too!

Another shot of my cute little daffodils.

These little tulips are already showing potential.  I'm so excited to see them bloom, especially since I can't remember what color they are.

I know most of you are thinking: "Heather, what's the big deal, everyone has tulips."  Well, I do believe these are the first I've ever planted and it's a little step toward beautifying my yard which was in really bad shape when we bought the home.

Just one little step out of a ton of projects but JEESH!,  it's something, and it makes me excited for the rest of the projects on my list.
